We are greatly encouraged by the ministry’s achievements so far, but there remain urgent challenges that need to be addressed. These include:
RECURRENT
Food and Provision:
- Some families are starving. The ministry needs help in provision of food stuff and other provision.
In order that widows may become self-reliant, there is need to provide financial assistance to enable them engage in economic and commercial activities.
New and fairly used clothes (foot wear, hair ties, dresses, etc) will provide great relief for many families. Some shy away from public places (even church) for lack of clothing.
Assistance in the area of writing materials, books, uniforms and the like is needed to facilitate the education of widow’s children.
The ministry finds it necessary to solicit for and provide scholarships especially for children at the tertiary level of education as gifted are constrained by limited by financial resources.
Commuter bus. Currently, the ministry is hiring buses to convey visiting teams, food stuff and other materials to our branches and those in need. Transport fares are also provided for those widows who come or fellowship from considerable distances.
Visitation and attendance to fellowship obviously suffer during the rainy season. We therefore are in desperate need for a commuter bus to minimize cost, for effective visitation and to enhance our operations.
In the course of our visits, We have to realize the urgent need to provide accommodation for some our widows who live in squalor and make- shift arrangements. Such widows’ children in their teens prone to social vices (cultism, unwanted pregnancy, etc.) as they seek accommodation with friends/acquaintances of questionable character.
Provision of proper accommodation will in no small measure, mitigate these ills.
OTHERS
By the grace God, WLW Outreach has an office at #7 Ejoh-close, Amadi- Flats, for counselling and administrative purposes. This location has, however, become inadequate as the ministry is fast growing. Our limited space hardly holds the gifts, food items and other materials donated to the ministry. On counseling days, visitors may be seen sitting on pavements as they wait their turn. Saturday fellowships are held on the front porch and spill-over to the open. Rainy days are traumatic.
Widows’ Love World requires at least two plots of land to build property for:
- Accommodating families in dire need.
ii. Adequate offices and hall for fellowship.
Owning financial constraints, it became impossible to continue our weekly Radio broadcasts , which commenced in October of 2002 and was aimed at sharing the message of God’s love with widows. The ministry requires sponsors to enable it resume the broadcast.
